Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital's Heart Valve Team is a multidisciplinary collaboration of cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, cardiac anaesthetists, intensivists and other relevant speciality groups, who assess patients with complex heart valve disease.

In a well-equipped hospital delivering the latest technologies to deliver the most innovative and comprehensive care for patients with complex diseases of the heart, our specialists work to develop ground-breaking procedures and are at the forefront of the most advanced surgical and medical practices.

HSNPH General Manager Daniele Doyle said, “We follow a multidisciplinary approach with teams of expert people coordinating optimised healthcare outcomes for individual patients. This approach has allowed Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital, our cardiac specialists and an industry partner, to collaborate and establish the Heart Valve Team – the first of its kind in Australia”.

“Cardiac disease is becoming a very complex condition to treat. As we live longer, doctors encounter patients not only with a cardiac condition, but with many other complicated and associated conditions. The Heart Valve Team was established for this very reason”.

The role of the team is to review, diagnose and recommend the most preferable treatment options for patients with heart valve disease and achieve the very best surgical and medical outcomes possible. The Heart Valve Team can assist in determining which of these procedures will be the most effective for the patient’s specific condition by weighing-up the risks and benefits.

Never before have so many different specialists been drawn together in an Australian private hospital setting. Daniele Doyle finishes, “The Heart Valve Team is an outstanding example of how collaboration and innovation can improve cardiac health outcomes for patients with all forms of heart valve disease”.
