Candidate assessment

Once you have submitted your application, your application will be reviewed in line with the position’s selection criteria.  For those candidates who meet the minimum requirements you will progress to next stage of the recruitment process. 

Call-back

The next stage of the recruitment process may involve an initial telephone call for us to find out more about you and your interest and availability to work with St Vincent’s.  Our end to end process may also include a scheduled interview, and pre employment assessments, including though not limited to, employment reference checks, proof of working rights or residency, criminal history checks and immunisation history.

As a healthcare provider, keeping our people, patients and residents safe is our highest priority, and vaccination is our best defence against COVID-19.

All staff at St Vincent's are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Where they apply, staff will also need to meet the vaccination requirements set by the Federal and State Health Departments as a condition of employment.

Our public hospitals in Melbourne and Sydney are able to accept transfer of entitlements from other health services within the same State:
  • Melbourne Public Hospital will recognise service and entitlements from staff transferring from within the Department of Health Victoria.
  • Sydney Public Hospital will recognise service and entitlements from staff transferring from within the Department of Health NSW.

Once you’ve submitted your application, we recommend you start gathering the following documents in preparation for the application / screening process:

  • Proof of Identity (100 points of ID)
  • Proof of Residency, Work Rights or Citizenship Status, for example Australian passport, birth or Citizenship certificate
  • Your immunisation history
  • Copies of your qualifications and accreditations

As a not-for-profit healthcare provider St Vincent's is eligible to proivide all-employees access to a Government funded salary sacrifice benefit.

Salary sacrificng is an arrangement that allows us to pay you a portion of your salary tax-free each year,  provided you have eligible expenses.

There are a number of eligible deductions available, including rent or morgage payments for a primary residence, groceries, investment loan interest and/or meals.

Prior to any offer of employment St Vincent’s require the following to be completed:
  • Reference checks
  • Proof of identity check
  • National Police Checks or National Criminal Record Checks
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia
  • Jobs Demands Checklist and Health Declaration Form
Additional pre-employment screening checks will be dependent on the role you apply for, and could include:
  • Immunisation Evidence checklist
  • Working with Children chack
  • Drugs of Addiction check
  • AHPRA/Accreditation
  • Qualification check
  • NDIS check
