Holy Spirit Northside Colorectal Surgeons, Dr Andrew Stevenson and Dr David Clark have over the past 11 years been teaching and training national and international surgeons, laparoscopic and surgical techniques to improve patient outcomes.

Johnson & Johnson Endo-surgery are valuable supporters of medical education programs at Holy Spirit Northside and have sponsored the travel, accommodation and meals for all the visiting surgeons and nurses who attend the laparoscopic workshops facilitated by Dr Andrew Stevenson and Dr David Clark.

Every four weeks Drs Clark and Stevenson operate in the i-suites at HSN, to demonstrate to visiting surgeons and their operating scrub nurses their colorectal laparoscopic surgery techniques and expertise. The three day course is a comprehensive 'in theatre' and skills based training program supported by data, video presentations and informal discussions.

HSN General Manager Daniele Doyle said, “Holy Spirit Northside is very fortunate to have Johnson & Johnson partnering with our surgeons and the Hospital supporting this unique approach to laparoscopic skills enhancement.”

This valuable working relationship with Johnson & Johnson has recently expanded to include HSN’s General and Bariatric Surgeons - Dr George Hopkins and Dr Robert Finch. Similar workshops and programs have been established to support visiting surgeons keen to learn the latest bariatric surgical procedures and advancing technologies.

“Holy Spirit Northside is in an enviable position to have such expert and supportive surgeons within our medical community who readily give up their time to educate and inform, to advance surgical standards and improve patient outcomes”.
