Hospital staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside received a surprise visit from an unexpected guest on Friday 18 December. Australian Olympic Champion turned Motivational Speaker, Steven Bradbury captivated the attention of 50+ nurse unit managers and hospital leaders, when he delivered a special keynote driven to inspire his audience.
Leadership, determination and passion were three main themes underpinning the speech by the four-time Olympian. Three characteristics that can easily be used to define the work and leadership demonstrated by the hospital’s managers and leaders throughout the year 2020.
Mr Bradbury shared his thoughts on the keys to successful leadership.
“You’ve got to have the right support team. To be successful you need help and support from the right people,” Mr Bradbury said.
“Every organisation will succeed or fail on how well the people, systems, and processes work together,” Mr Bradbury added.
St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside CEO, Mr Oli Steele, said the hospital’s leaders and staff deserve every commendation.
“I am incredibly proud of each and every staff member for their service and teamwork demonstrated throughout the year.”
“We have a tremendous group of leaders across the two private hospitals and I’m proud of the way the St Vincent’s community has responded as a team over the past nine months to ensure we continue to deliver safe and high-quality care to our patients,” Mr Steele said.
When concluding his keynote, Mr Bradbury thanked the healthcare workers.
Following the proceedings hospital staff took the opportunity to meet with Mr Bradbury.
